Installing Custom ROM in a MediaTek Phone

     Installing Custom ROM in a MediaTek or any Android Phone is almost same. What we require is a source to collect custom rom for our devices. There is various source for custom rom. like Needrom,  forum-xda any many personal blog also. So before getting started we need the following things.

   What required 
================

  • A MediaTek Android Phone
  • Custom Recovery See my Post: installing-custom-recovery-in-android
  • Custom ROM (ROMs that ported only for your Phone not the ROM  ported for other phone), Search: www.needrom.com or For Walton Primo H2 visit: fb Group: fb group 1 or Droid Adda
  • The ROM must be in zip format (like: ABC.zip), do not extract the rom. keep it as it is.

   How to flash
================================

  • Got to Custom Recovery Mode [Volume Up + Power  button together while phone is switched off.]
  • Select backup
  • Go through the process to get the backup of your Current ROM  or  [for an advanced backup see my post: Backup
  • Now go back and find out the following options
  • You need to wipe your data and/or cache. 
    •  In TWRP, you'll find this under the "Wipe" section,

    •  In ClockworkMod, you'll find this under the in
      • In "Wipe Data/Factory Reset" option
      • In the "Wipe Cache Partition" option.

You need to confirm the wipe 
  • Now select install  (in TWRP) or Install zip form SD Card (In CWM Recovery)
  • Nevigate to the ROM & select it
  • In CWM the process will start immediately or in TWRP swipe the burron "Swipe to flash"
  • The Installation or New ROM will start and wou will see the progress with information.
  • After successful flashing a message will appear.
  • Now wipe your data and/or cache again (only select cache or dalvik cache only)
  • Now reboot your phone
  • It will take some times aroud 5 minutes maximum, So keep patience
  • After that enjoy the new ROM

================


  • Collect the right Custom Recovery, there are may flavours (TWRP/CWM/CTR), it doesnt matter. The Important things is that collect the appropriate TWRP/CWM/CTR which one is ported for your Device.
  • Collect the right ROM that is ported for your device
  • Before Installing new ROM, always keep a backup
  • Before installing rom do a wipe (Factory reset/Wipe Data/System/Cache)
  • After flashing rom if it wont boot keep patience and wait for 5 min.  If it still won't boot go to the Recovery Mode again and Restore your original ROM from backup
  • Do it at your own risk. I am not responsible for any damage

Installing Custom Recovery using SP Flash Tool

     Earlier Posts I have shared the technique to install Custom Recovery by Mobile Uncle Tool. For Using MTK Mobile Uncle Tool you must root your phone.
